Latest drawing for my "form and soul class" (with AKU POJIE) . the reserch is about keris, ...definition..parts and its function in malay culture.This drawing consist two subject..

1) the hulu pekaka which is common for keris tanjung...pekaka or kingfisher bird symbolized geroda and vishnu..but after the arrival of islam.. it evolve into a much more acceptable form.the hulu pekaka is commonly found in the north part of malay peninsula, and patani

2) Mata keris...the mata keris is the most important part of keris.. the pamor which can be found on the blade of a keris considered to be the most special part of the keris..the pamor was created through the multiple layer of steel forged into one. The keris must have at least 3 type of iron before it can be considered as a keris and the pamor created through the forging proses were considered as a gift from god . the pamor in this particular drawing are called ngulit semangka or kulit tembikai..

keris is the most celebrated and respected weapons in malay culture..it was considered to be more than a weapon used for killing and served as an object of power and status. keris in malay culture represents the spirit of a malay and what a malay should be..~~~~

Aku yang berumur 7 tahun adalah seorang budak yang nakal..orang kg panggil aku kaneh..xde maksud yang jelas..mungkin ringkasan dari nama sebenar aku yang bunyinya cuba dimanjakan..port rahsia aku ketika itu adalah dibelakang rumah wan.. xde la rahsia sangat sebab sepupu aku pon dok lepak situ jgk setiap hari minggu..tapi tempat tu sinonim ngan aku sbb kalau wan aku nak kejar aku semistinya dia check tempat tu dulu.. antara sebab2 untuk dia kejar aku antaranya adalah :mencuri pisau dan menzalimi seekor ayam...

Belakang rumah wan, seiingat aku adalah sebuah tempat yang magikal. Suasananya agak suram tapi kalerful.. penuh dengan herba2 dan pokok mangosteen.. tanahnya sejuk..membuatkan aku selalu berkaki ayam..kadang2 aku akan menghidupkan api untuk menghalau nyamuk.. dan musim buah adalah musim untuk menjadi tupai..cendawan-cendawan putih juga akan tumbuh diatas busut dan tanah selepas hujan disebelah malam.

The Rangda series were officially completed!!! and this is one of the many series that are now being exhibited in plus minus art show in Hotel Seri Malaysia Kuantan Pahang 3-5 may 2011. The work is a representation of "Rangda" queen of all leyak which is a symbols of evil in Balinese mythology and tradition.Through this series, i tried to learn and visualized back the emotion of Rangda through line and color. The emotion that have being the main focus in this subject is , "Anger" which is for me the most dominant emotion i received through 4-3 month of reading and sketching the subject. It was also an experiment in using both contemporary and conventional media in one series. Basically it was a good learning process and a good end for my diploma study :)

Currently doing some research about Southeast Asia Mask" culture (Malaysia/Indonesia to be specific).. Im planning to make it a research subject for my upcoming diploma show ( well not 100 percent sure about that yet haha..) right now im just busy collecting info as well as sketching some images i found in the internet..the sketches that Ive been doing lately are much about Tari Topeng which originated from Sunda/Betawi/Bali .. Indonesia..Ive already watched some of the tari topeng performance on youtube which i find very interesting and of course beautifully mystical.. Im also interested on Jah hut and Mah Meri masked but the sketches must wait, cause of the lack of images on the net lol..well.. practically a busy-fun time on holiday haha~~:)
